The IT Industry in Lviv: Data & Performance

Lviv is not only about history and architecture, cultural events, and tourists, but is also one of the 3 largest IT hubs in Ukraine, alongside Kyiv and Kharkiv. In 2023, there were 600 tech companies, out of which more than 190 are registered on TechBehemoths. In addition to this, Lviv was listed among the most cost-effective locations by fDi Intelligence in 2024, and also, 4 IT companies from the top 100 best BPOs have offices in Lviv, according to an article shared by Lviv IT Cluster.

Other advantages of Lviv as a tech center are the economic attractiveness, which makes the city a feasible destination with qualified professionals in the IT industry, such as web designers, developers, software engineers, and other specialists in related fields.

Youngsters interested in the field of IT can always find specialization courses in different fields, and those professionals who feel insecure have a place to retrain and improve their skills in Lviv. This means that the IT and tech academic background in the city is at one of the highest levels in the region.

The city also has a positive development dynamic, and so, in the past 7 years, the number of investors and IT companies in Lviv has significantly increased. The most important aspect when attracting new companies to a city is to keep them satisfied with the entire environment - a lesson that Lviv accomplished. 90% of all CEOs of local IT companies are satisfied with the city, and 83% will continue to invest. On the other hand, local companies that open offices in Lviv export IT services abroad. Web agencies, digital companies, and professionals working for Lviv-based IT companies are attracting more new clients each year.

In 2019, there were more than 25K professionals enrolled in the IT sector in Lviv, but in 2025, there were about 51,000 IT specialists. With an average salary of $2,000 - $4,000/mo according to Glassdoor, the number of IT specialists increased by more than 85% in the past 2 years.

Overall, Lviv is expected to increase its IT capabilities and deliver more IT services and service types in the near future. With a new generation coming up, companies located there can assimilate and produce valuable digital products and technologies.
