Vortan Limited is an IoT company based in Arusha, Tanzania. We connect physical systems, make their data trustworthy, and turn it into intelligence people can act on.
We build complete IoT systems in-house, end to end: custom hardware and circuit boards, embedded firmware, long-range and offline-first connectivity, cloud platforms and AI. Everything is designed for local conditions, including heat, dust, power cuts and weak networks.
Our products:
MajiLink: smart water management that reduces non-revenue water. Prepaid water meters, smart water kiosks and tank monitoring work together on one platform, so utilities and operators get paid before water is used and can see exactly where it is lost.
CarbonLink: digital measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) for clean-cooking carbon projects. Our devices measure real appliance usage at the source and produce verification-ready data aligned with Gold Standard requirements, with remote device management for pay-as-you-go programmes.
MediLink: connects hospital lab and bedside equipment from multiple manufacturers to one platform, even offline. Clinicians get results in seconds instead of minutes, monitor multiple patients on one screen, and receive AI-driven alerts.
Beyond our products, we design and deliver custom IoT, embedded and automation systems for government, institutional and private clients, from concept and prototyping to production and field deployment.
Vortan has 430+ devices deployed across three platforms in production, and customers in Tanzania and Europe. We are a Next Gen Africa special award winner and were one of five startups selected from 650+ African applicants for the Startup Road Africa roadshow at WMF Bologna 2026.
Our team includes the WorldSkills Tanzania 2026 IoT champion, alongside engineers specialising in ultra-low-power electronics, telecommunications and robotics.
