Platanor Technologies builds the security layer for connected devices - firmware, secure boot, device identity, OTA updates, and the backend infrastructure that manages a device's security over its full lifecycle.

We're a team of engineers who spent years building security systems for industrial controllers, hardware security keys, personal gadgets, and other connected electronics before founding Platanor in 2026. Over that time we kept running into the same pattern: most manufacturers didn't want to spend resources on security in devices they didn't see as critical, especially outside categories like smart home hardware. We were convinced this was a mistake - that basic security features belong in every connected device, regardless of what it's for.

The EU Cyber Resilience Act made that case for us at the legislative level. It requires manufacturers to build security into their devices from the start, and we think that's the right direction, not bureaucratic overreach. It was also the reason we turned years of hands-on security engineering work into a company of its own.

Unlike cybersecurity consultancies that advise from the outside, we're an engineering team that builds. We work with product teams at the architecture stage and deliver:

• Security architecture and threat modeling

• Secure boot and firmware integrity

• Device identity, authentication, and Hardware Root of Trust implementations

• Secure OTA update mechanisms

• Technical documentation required for CRA conformity, including SBOMs and vulnerability management processes

Most of our clients are SME manufacturers and startups that are strong on product but don't have a dedicated security team - some were even considering leaving the EU market because they lacked the resources to meet the new requirements. We help them get there without building that team from scratch.
