We hired Pharos Production to solve a problem that had become more expensive than the AI itself getting evaluated ML systems out of pilots and into real production environments. I’m the Founder and Chief Scientist at Nordhavn AI and we build custom machine learning and retrieval systems for companies operating in regulated environments. Our team is heavily weighted toward ML engineers and evaluation specialists so we needed a partner who could take proven models and build the software infrastructure around them. Pharos handled far more than basic development. They built backend services, APIs, operator interfaces and integrations with systems including Salesforce, SAP and Zendesk. They also worked extensively on our retrieval stack including chunking, embeddings, hybrid search, reranking and source citations. On the agent side they implemented LangGraph, Temporal and controlled MCP tool access with audit logging. What impressed me most was their engineering judgment. They were willing to challenge our assumptions rather than simply execute whatever appeared in the scope. In one case their agent lead argued against counting a certain workflow as autonomous. We accepted the criticism and our published performance figure actually went down. That kind of honesty is rare. The measurable results speak for themselves. Halden Precision achieved 0.94 F1 against a 0.90 agreed threshold and has been running inline inspection since November 2024. Vestbro Forsikring reduced median claim triage time from nine days to two. Kortlink Logistics now handles 31% of booking amendments end to end without human intervention. More importantly, our overall pilot-to-production rate reached 81% across 168 systems. Pharos helped close the gap between something that works in evaluation and something that can survive real operational use. They were reliable with communication and delivery and they documented important decisions rather than leaving them buried in Slack. The main weakness was that the first phase moved slower than expected because the evaluation harness came later than it should have. Their bench also varied in seniority. That said, the senior engineers are exceptional. What ultimately separates Pharos from most development firms we’ve worked with is that they build for handover — not dependency. We were left with an architecture based on open-source components and client-owned services rather than a proprietary Pharos runtime we would have to keep paying for. For complex AI systems where production readiness matters as much as the model itself, I would absolutely work with them again.
