I strongly recommend do not sign up with MLK Marketing and do not allow them to get hold of your domain. There is a reason why SEO companies want to lock you into contracts, and none of them are good. Here are some facts: We signed up, however never embarked on the journey, as the alarm bells went off right from the beginning. Our current IT support warned us that MLK wanted to take over our domain. That is when we did some due diligence and we notified Sam Smith that we needed some time to consider our options. Over the next few days, he responded to some queries and then rang me to discuss any residual issues. He became very agitated and gave me a 48 hr. deadline otherwise the contract will be cancelled . I told him that I could not talk to him as I had some people with me in the office and they did not have to listen to the spectacle. This was one week before the SEO campaign was to start beginning of November . So he practically cancelled the contract before it was even due to start , as I wanted more time to talk to former clients of MLK. They had already taken almost $5,000 out of my account . Beginning of November Sam had sent me an email that the only way out of the contract is , if we pay MLK the total contract value for the contract period , which is 14 months . That came to about $ 38,000. Since then debt collectors have contacted us and the amount has now grown to almost $60,000 that they demand. I will leave it up to the reader to decide on the ethics of demanding money for absolutely no work performed. I have been in contact with former clients and that was quite a revelation. The general consensus is that they allege that there is bullying and intimidation , threats of legal action if negative reviews are not removed, posting of negative reviews on clients' websites in retaliation, holding a clients' website hostage and other methods of coercion to force clients to pay even more money or remove their negative reviews. Do not fall for their sales tactics; in our case comparing our new website with the performance of two very established companies with many years of SEO , with national and reseller networks, one with a global presence. There were a number of misrepresentations that they used to coerce us into agreeing into a contract. The goal is to ultimately persuade you that your current service providers do a bad job , making claims of poor SEO metrics and underperformance. There are SEO companies that do not require contracts - they will be driven to excel and continue to deliver results !
