I signed a contract with MapleBrains in March of 2022. They were to develop a mental health app with AI chat function. The project completion in the contract was 70 days (which would have fallen in June 2022). I paid for the project on time and in full. The communication was poor from the start. The project manager didn't understand my vision, and the app developer just didn't give a sh*t. He tried to take a sloppy, easy way out. The first rendition was non-functional and nowhere near what we had discussed when the contract was signed. I pushed back and the project was reassigned to a different app developer in September of 2022. Time and time again, I was told the app would be finished by certain deadlines. MapleBrains managed to miss all of those deadlines. When I questioned them, they responded by radio silence for weeks to months. I never received any clear explanation as to why things are so delayed. Excuses like long holiday weekends, flooding, and power outages did not seem sufficient to explain the delay to this degree. In addition to the delay in the app development, the CEO convinced me that buy more into app upgrades and digital marketing. The CEO insisted the app would be out in the app stores by a certain timeframe. I was foolish enough to believe him. I paid more into the project and signed another contract for digital marketing. After a few months of extra payments, it was clear the app would not be ready and the digital marketing was just a scam to milk more money from clients. The CEO knew the app would not be ready, yet he asked for money to promote it. I reached out to an attorney and we terminated the digital marketing contract. I was told I'd be given a refund for the marketing contract. To this day, I still have not seen a cent of it. This review is written in September 2024. The app is still not completed. I have been asking for updates and now I'm going ghosted. It kills me to go to Apple and Android app stores and see many apps with my idea. I came up with this idea way before ChatGPT was a thing, and now I am watching other people financially flourish on a similar idea. This loss of economic opportunities is all because I trusted the wrong company with my idea. According to reviews on Google and Trustpilot, this is NOT an isolated incident. Please stay away from MapleBrains. At their best, they are a group of incompetent people who won't get anything done and don't know how to professionally communicate with their clients. At their worst, they are a scheming, money-hungry entity and should be avoided at all costs.
