IOX GmbH, based in Cologne, Germany, is a development partner for connected products. We support manufacturers throughout the product journey, from the idea and validation of the customer need to series production, market launch and ongoing operation. Our services include product strategy, business case development and technical feasibility, followed by proof of concept, prototype and MVP, series development, industrialisation, certification, approval, operations and maintenance.

At each stage, we focus on the decisions needed to move the product forward. Early on, this means clarifying target users, customer needs, value proposition and commercial viability. Prototypes and MVPs then help test critical assumptions, gather feedback and reduce technical and market risks before major investments. As the product approaches series production, the focus shifts to system architecture, manufacturability, certification, supply chains and reliable field operation. After launch, we support further development based on customer feedback and changing market requirements.

What sets our approach apart is joint responsibility for all disciplines. Electronics and hardware, embedded software, cloud architecture, systems engineering and industrialisation are coordinated by one partner rather than split across several suppliers. This reduces coordination effort, reveals dependencies earlier and ensures that technical decisions consider the complete product and customer journey.

We also bring experience in demanding areas such as battery-powered products, cellular connectivity, e-paper and display development, cloud-connected systems, and manufacturing in Asia, including supplier coordination and certification.

Connected products rarely fail because the technology is impossible. They fail because essential decisions are made too early, based on unclear requirements, untested assumptions or an insufficient understanding of the customer problem. A functioning product does not automatically create customer value or commercial success. That is why every project with IOX starts with clarification rather than implementation.

IOX was founded in 2015 and is based in Cologne. Our clients include manufacturers from machinery and plant engineering, electronics, medical technology and consumer goods.
