HQ Verified Company

HQ is a 25-person studio in downtown Ogden, Utah that designs and builds software. Matt Sutherland and Zarin Ficklin founded it in 2012 while at Weber State. Our people tend to stay: the average tenure on the team is five years, and together we've shipped more than 250 products.

Most of our current work falls into four areas:

AI development and integration. We add AI to the software a company already runs, such as internal copilots, search and question answering over a company's own documents, and AI features inside existing products. Identifyd, an AI recruiting platform we designed and built end to end, lets a recruiter describe a role and get a ranked list of candidates.

Finishing AI-built prototypes. Founders and teams bring us apps started in Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Replit or ChatGPT. We audit what's there, keep what works, and take it to production with proper security, data handling and hosting.

Web and mobile apps. We built Seis, a Spanish-language banking app with 500,000+ customers and a 4.9-star App Store rating, and internal mobile and web tools for Autoliv, the global leader in automotive passive safety.

Marketing sites and product design. Our in-house design team, led by co-founder Zarin Ficklin, handled the full web rebuild for Revere Health, a Utah physician-owned network with 400+ providers and 100+ clinic locations.

We like long relationships. For years we've been the embedded design and development team on My Designer Lab, the ordering platform Messenger's funeral director customers use every day, at more than 500 hours a month. Other clients include Nomi Health and WGU Labs.
