FeelEat runs a network of smart fridges supplying fresh meals to company offices across Switzerland. The hardware worked; the experience around it did not. Employees could not see what was inside before walking over, could not pay without a card, and could not tell what their employer's subsidy left them to pay. CODT built our consumer app in Flutter for iOS and Android, in German, French and English, on the backend they already maintain for us. It shows the live contents of the nearest fridge, applies each employer's subsidy to the price that individual sees, runs a wallet with top-ups and TVA-compliant receipts, credits 10% back above CHF 100 of monthly spend, and unlocks the fridge by QR with the purchase debited as the door closes. That last flow was the real engineering. The app, the fridge and the payment layer have to agree within seconds, in an office corridor where the WiFi is unpredictable, and a failure means someone standing in front of a locked door at lunchtime. It works, and it has held as we grew past 200 fridges and 38,000 registered users without rebuilding anything. The app is now the primary way people buy from us. Wallet top-ups reduced our payment processing costs, and the pricing complaints that used to fill our support queue disappeared once subsidies were applied automatically. What impressed us most is that CODT engaged with the business rather than the specification. The subsidy rules and the loyalty logic had edge cases we had not worked through ourselves, and they raised them before writing code instead of discovering them in production. Nine years into the relationship the same core team is still on our account, so our calls are about decisions rather than context. It was not frictionless. Early on the time difference made same-day answers difficult, until we agreed a fixed afternoon overlap. Design iterations also ran slower than the development behind them, partly because we kept their designer too far from our own decisions. Both were fixed once raised, and neither recurred on later projects. We would recommend them, with one piece of advice: bring them in on the business problem rather than a finished specification. That is where they add the most.
