CloudHeads was co-founded in November 2024 by Jan Goergen-Makinson, after he moved from London to Cyprus Before CloudHeads, Jan spent eleven years running the engineering behind two of London's best-known hotels. He joined the Chiltern Firehouse in 2013 on the pre-opening team, setting up the systems the building would run on. From 2019, he was Director of Engineering at The Connaught, responsible for the day-to-day operation of the building. Neither was a software job, but both kept producing the same problem: the work the operation needed was being done by hand, on paper, or in somebody's head. So he kept introducing technology to fix it, from hotel-wide operations platforms to sensors that stopped the building cooling empty rooms. CloudHeads is that habit turned into a studio. Jan builds and runs every system himself, including the AI receptionist that answers the studio's own phone.

A handful a year, on purpose. We are a small studio, and every project is built and run by the same person you talk to, so we take on a few and finish what we start.

Honesty about what is worth building. We tell clients when something is not worth automating, because a process that runs four times a year rarely is. We run what we build: our own phone is answered by an AI receptionist we made, so advice comes from running these systems, not from selling them. And plain English. No jargon, no overselling, and a studio small enough that the person who promises is the person who builds.
