Egypt: Tech Hubs, Programs & Institutions
One of the most important government initiatives coordinated by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is the ICT Strategy 2030, whose central objective is to increase the contribution of the ICT sector to the Egyptian economy through infrastructure, training and government digitalization.
It is admirable that over the years, a series of major investments, both state-owned and foreign, have been directed, namely in the development of technology parks and in the improvement of the digital projects they cover. Thus, on the current Egyptian tech scene, there are six technology parks equipped with all the necessary facilities for beneficiaries in the following locations: Minya, Menoufiya, Mansoura, Sohag, Qena, and Aswan, which now serve as hub centers for business activities, exchange of IT experience, and new opportunities in the field.
These parks continue to provide support to entrepreneurs, to actively support innovation by offering hardware laboratories, incubators, AI, data science, cybersecurity, and other training institutions.
MCIT also oversees the following organizations:
-
National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA)
-
IT Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)
-
Egypt Post
-
Information Technology Institute (ITI)
-
National Telecommunication Institute (NTI)
-
Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT)

Cairo was found to be the leading IT hub, followed by Giza, Hurghada and Alexandria, according to the winners of 2024 and 2025. Web Development, WordPress, Branding, SMM and ReactJs are recognized as top services among the winning companies for Egypt in recent years.
Thanks to initiatives such as ICT Strategy 2020, the direct support of MCIT and affiliated organizations, including NTRA, ITIDA, ITI, NTI, TIEC, and Silicon Waha, Egypt now enjoys a favorable entrepreneurial environment, strong innovation, and generally speaking - a status as a growing regional technology hub with much potential ahead.
